1st Sinukwan Kapampangan Film Festival - Dec 4-5

JC Filed Under:
With the holding of the first ever Sinukwan Kapampangan Film Festival this December by Foundation for Lingap Kapampangan, the Holy Angel University Center for Kapampangan Studies, and Kamaru Productions, the Kapampangans are the latest ethnolinguistic group in the Philippines to contribute to the diversification of perspectives and cultural experiences through cinema.

With the continued rise of independent films from the Philippine provinces featuring local culture, language, and location, the organizers have deemed it timely to call out on Kapampangans -- who for a long time up to the present have been contributing to the progress of Philippine Cinema -- to begin making films about their homeland and/or their people, in their native language -- in the name of preserving, promoting, and developing the struggling Kapampangan culture.

One of the highlights of the film festival is the Kapampangan Short Film Competition, which was open to amateurs, students, and professionals.

In its first attempt, the Sinukwan Kapampangan Film Festival receives a total of seven (7) short films participating in the competition:
