Alternative Contemporary Art Studio pays tribute to the faithful departed with bottles, prayers, and souvenirs of the dead this October.
An art project of Fr. Jason K. Dy, S.J., the exhibition dubbed as In Loving Memory V will run from October 20 to November 30, 2012 at the Shrine of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and Columbarium, Newport Blvd, Bgy. 183, Zone 20 Villamor, Pasay City.
The interactive exhibition between local artists and non-artists showcases a communal installation that pays homage to the dead. Prayers and living objects of the lifeless are displayed in the gallery together with a few pieces from Fr. Dy’s Madrid exhibition Arte+Fe for the World Youth Day in August 2011. Handwritten prayers of the living from Caceres and Trojillo are present in Dy’s pieces. A monumental installation of two columns covered in petitions for the dead are commissioned by the St. Thérèse Columbarium. Important highlights of Dy’s exhibition include a big cross consisting of five tomb markers, cast angels found in a defaced cemetery in Cebu, and an unearthed corpus of Christ from a retreat house.
