Francis Commeyne's Carinderias, Caballos and other Manila Shenanigans

Anonymous Filed Under:

Francis Commeyne captures the incongruity of Manila in works of various mediums for a solo exhibition at Tin-aw Art Gallery. Working around icons that have come to represent the city, Commeyne tinkers with images that channel its motley character.

In combined humor and wit, he casts an unerring eye on Manila as a city that has come to represent a charm in turns endearing and crude - a strange almost unfathomable fascination.

“Carinderias, Caballos and other Manila Shenanigans” is Francis Commeyne’s first solo exhibition. Prior to this, the artist participated in numerous group exhibitions. He graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Fine Arts degree in painting.
