The fourth concert of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra features violoncellist Iñaki Etxepare and trumpet player Raymond Deleon as guest soloists under the baton of Filipino conductor Herminigildo Ranera on December 14, 2012.
Iñaki Etxepare‘s participation in this concert is made possible through the cooperation of the Embassy of Spain. Billed as “Deleon and Arutiunian”, the program consists of Smetana’s Moldau (Vitava), Lalo’s Concerto in D Minor, Arutiunian’s Trumpet Concerto and Grofe’s Grand Canyon Suite.
Hailed for his authoritative, articulate and soulful conducting, Herminigildo G. Ranera possesses a rare musical combination as a conductor, composer, arranger, performer and educator. He obtained his Bachelor of Music Degree, majoring in the fields of Trombone and Theory, from the University of Santo Tomas, Master of Music Degree in Conducting from the University of Northern Colorado (with the Dean’s Citation for Graduate Excellence and National Graduate Award) and Doctor of Philosophy major in Educational Management from Cagayan State University.
A multi-awarded performer, he was a three-time prize-winner of the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) in 1982 and 1983 as a performer in trombone & baritone categories and the tuba player of the UST Brass Quintet that won first prize in the 1983 NAMCYA chamber music category.
