Works on Paper Group Art Exhibition for a Cause
Kalye Art Gallery is showcasing exceptional works on paper this 22nd of December 2012. The exhibit will benefit LIRIO SALVADOR, an artist who mastered to transform any available materials into a sound assemblage. Salvador is a master of sound craft, a performer, a musician and a sound artist. He also spear-headed the avant garde collective ELEMENTO, who played at selected bars and art spaces inside and outside the country, even on the streets. And so as his exhibited art pieces, “SANDATA” does.
December 30, 2011: According to accounts of eyewitnesses, Salvador was crossing the street when two men riding a speeding motorbike directly hit him. Lirio was knocked down and the two perpetrators drag him to the sidewalk then rushed out to leave him unconscious. The incident happened just in front of Espasyo Siningdikato creatiVEnue, an abode for those who are passionate in art, that he created.
He was put into Intensive Care Unit of De La Salle University Medical Center at Dasmariñas City, Cavite due to a major brain injury. He went into a brain surgery to remove a blood clot and remained at the hospital for almost two months.
As of now, Lirio is slowly recovering at a friend’s house in Dasmariñas City, Cavite. He is breathing on his own without the use of respirator. He can move his left arm and leg. He can now open his eyes and there is a few sign of response. The tracheostomy tube has been removed and sometime you can hear his voice humming.
The Exhibition: Will open on the 22nd of December 2012, 6pm at the Kalye Art Gallery, located at Estrada St. Singalong, Manila. With the scarce works on paper of illustrious artists such as Alexis Cordero, Aurelio Castro III, Beejay Esber, Bobby Balingit, Cliff Ray Barrazona, Heidi Sarno, Jon Romero, Mary Ann Jimenez-Salvador, Neil Arvin Javier and Noel Aguila will be specially priced and exhibited at Kalye Art Gallery.
This exhibition is an initiative to raise a fund to help cover the daily medical expenses of a very great friend. The proceeds of the sale will be sent directly to Mary Ann Jimenez-Salvador, Lirio’s wife.
We are hoping and praying that Lirio will continue his recovery.
