Ground Floor, Fort Victoria Bldg., 4th Avenue cor. 23rd Street, Fort-BGC

“We have visions of numbers. We are moving toward the Spirit. What I say is oracular and absolutely right. I understand, and since I cannot express myself except in pagan terms, I would rather keep quiet. Pagan blood returns! “
- Arthur Rimbaud
Light and Space openly declares it owes its existence to the energy and perseverance of artists of this generation. While, the organizers of the gallery recognize the tradition and the profound impression left by their predecessors, it has followed a vision of a coherent exhibition program focused on lesser-known and emerging young artists, capable of representing a movement and forming a school. Light and Space, has struggled for more exposure for what it thinks are important but inconspicuous voices. Seeking to endow Philippine art with a venue and program to discover them, the gallery sought to promote a direction capable of giving an identity to the art of our time while drawing heavily on tradition. Whether in the field of painting or sculpture, Light and Space has always favored those who tirelessly seek new forms of expression and are capable of renewing the language of art.
This inaugural group exhibition in this new space is a gateway to that direction. Aiming to connect the most important artists of Light and Space Contemporary in a show consisting of new paintings and large sculptures around a theme that is capable of mining the contradictions of popular and art historical imagery through both their conceptual and formal variations.
