Pinto ArtMuseum features Grupo Biag in The Waiting Game

The Vigan-based artists collective, Grupo Biag, will be featuring a unique series of 38 works based on an Ilocano cultural practice of code-making used to forecast winning combinations in a small-town game of chance. Wittily titled, The Waiting Game is an exhibition of works based on a system of “divination” called anunsyo that Vigan locals refer to in placing their bets in the controversial small-town numbers game called jueteng.

The exhibition is curated by Riel Jaramillo Hilario, a Vigan-born sculptor and writer.

The Waiting Game features works by Brave Singh, Jay Harold Hidalgo, Riel Hilario, Roel Salvatierra, Pablo Zingapan, Aubrey Terry, Redentor Castillo, Rionel Victor Rivera, Jeminic Real and Richard Quebral.

The exhibition opens on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 3PM.

Show runs until March 9, 2014
